About Jack Scott...
Before his death, Jack Scott personified the
clean, positive, disciplined image that his studio, classes and
students still represent. His memory and legacy live on in the success
of his program and his students.
A certified and registered Master Instructor
with the United Karate Association, Jack earned his 6th degree Black
Belt shortly before his untimely death from cancer in 2000. Loved
and respected by generations of loyal friends and followers, Jack's
karate career spanned more than three decades of in-depth mental
and physical conditioning in the martial arts. He introduced scores
of students and Black Belt instructors to the remarkable and unique
United Karate System of self-fulfillment.
"In 30 years of martial arts,
I have met many people, but I can say I have not often met an individual
as dedicated to his students, town and family as Jack Scott"
— Mike Bogdanski, Black Belt.
When competing, Jack earned the United Karate
Association's "Competitor of the Year" award for two consecutive
years. In addition to several "Grand Champion" awards,
he placed first in the prestigious Battle of Atlanta, and was regionally
rated among the top 10 fighters in the Southeast, and was ranked
by the North American Sport Karate Association as 8th among all
Black Belts in the nation. He was later inducted into the Southeast
Hall of Fame by the Southeastern Karate Alliance.
"To him, I give all the credit
for my accomplishments as an instructor. Mr. Scott will sorely be
missed by the martial arts world." — Ricky McCowan, Black
Belt instructor, Port Hueneme, Calif.
With Jack, people of all ages, races and genders
have found their hidden potential. His personable and influential
style of teaching and mentoring has helped future leaders find great
confidence, increased self-discipline, and amazing accomplishments.
Several of his Black Belt students have gone on to reach great heights,
including three gold-medal world champions — Tara Eubanks
(2 time world champion competing in Ireland and Austria), Mark Greer
(world champion winner in Italy) and Allison Cameron (world champion
winner in Italy) and Randy Glover (bronze winner in Italy).
From Jack, the Black Belt instructors at our
studio have gained immeasurable insight and dedication, and they
teach all the principles for which Jack Scott stood. Jack's spirit
and legend will live on!
